03Possible Hazards
Elements like Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium and materials like Asbestos etc are not used directly or indirectly in the process. When Polyester Staple Fiber is burned, no unusual combustion gases have been observed, and its combustion products are similar to those of other organic materials of the same elements.
04First Aid Measures
Inhalation : No specific intervention is indicated. Consult physician if necessary. Ingestion : No specific intervention is indicated as fiber is not likely to be hazardous by ingestion. Consult physician if necessary. Eye contact : In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Consult physician if necessary Skin contact : The Fiber is not likely to be hazardous by skin contact, but cleansing the skin after use is advisable. If burned by contact with molten material, cool with cold water as quickly as possible and consult physician for burn injuries.
05Fire Fighting Measures
Flammability : Non Flammable as such. Suitable extinguishing media : Water spray, Dry Chemical Powder, Foam, Carbon dioxide Further information : ‚Flammable Properties : Flash Point – Not applicable. Material will burn in a fire.‚Fire and Explosion Hazards : None‚When Polyester Staple Fiber is burned, no unusual combustion gases have been observed, and its combustion products are similar to those of other organic materials of the same elements. ‚Sometimes Fiber may have mild static charge which may be harmful to skin on prolonged exposure. Formation of further fission and oxidation products depends upon the fire conditions. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with local regulations.
06Accidental Release Measures
Polyester Staple Fiber presents no unusual spill or release potential. Shovel or sweep up for disposal.
07Exposure Control and Personal Protection
No damage to health is known to have occurred due to prolonged exposure. Material is non-toxic. Personal protective equipment : While no special control or handling procedures are required, it is recommended that exposure to any inhalable material be minimized by use of ventilation and personal cleanliness. During fiber processing, nose mask is recommended to avoid fiber fly or dust to enter into the respiratory system.
